crow and platter

This crow was a victim of a car crash. This one was definitely a challenge; a very messy job, but I'm happy at the way the end result turned out.

tricky pelican

Before:

After.

Alex and I found these pelican bones on a beach in Ventura, CA. We had to dig a bit, but the end result's made me thus far very happy! Although, I'm pretty near sure that the order of vertebrae/positioning is off...but, for a first try, I am trying to convince myself that this is acceptable.

entrances

Started taking photos (techniques via Cosette) with my crappy old digital camera, although, I like the faked quality. I am pleased.

nouvelle!

Working on some new ideas and such for the summer - and I've got a long one ahead of me. Being that it's so hot outside lately, I'll be forced to stay in doors, therefore, being forced to indulge and frolic in paint, taxidermy, and crafts! I think I'll retire early.

This isn't near being completed yet...and this is only about half of the canvas so far.

A little idea about a little rabbit being buried.

this crow

Completed taxidermy crow. Many, many, many aspects that need improving on...looking forward to smaller birds after this feat.

recently

The above and following are works I have finished during my first quarter at CSUSB. The first is Dove, rendered on canvas with acrylic paint.

Rabbits: painted in acrylic on the lining of a rabbit fur stole. It was difficult getting used to the texture, but for me, it paid off. I'll be submitting this to the student show - wish me luck!

Just a close up...

Swarm: I don't know the exact measurements of the canvas used here, but the horse head is right about life-sized. The gestural lines were made with Black India Ink. This was also (and I should mention) a performance piece. I played Flight of the Bumblebee while wearing bug-vision goggles to start this off...the horse head and the little flies came later.
